Crane Insurance
Crane insurance isn’t one policy. It’s a handful of them working together: one for the crane, one for the load, one for the public, one for your crew, one for your trucks and whatever your contracts call for.

Can y’all handle it?
Yes sir. Here are the usual pieces:
- General liability — injury and damage to others. → /crane-general-liability/
- Riggers liability — the customer’s load. → /riggers-liability-insurance/
- Crane physical damage — your crane. → /crane-physical-damage-insurance/
- Workers’ comp — your crew. → /crane-workers-compensation/
- Commercial auto — cranes and trucks on the road. → /commercial-auto-for-crane-companies/
- Umbrella / excess — higher limits, often required by contract.
- Marine — USL&H, MEL, marine GL, P&I and hull for work on the water. → /marine-crane-insurance/

Where folks get caught
- The load on the hook: GL usually leaves it out. See the article.
- A crane on a truck: auto may cover the truck but not the boom.
- Rented-out cranes: your rental agreement decides whose policy pays. See operated vs. bare.
- Waterfront work: state comp may not be the only law in play. See the maritime guide.
